Subsidized Housing

A government-supported program, subsidized housing is intended for people with low to moderate incomes.  Subsidized housing for older adults is usually open to people who are at least 62 years old and have an income at or below 80% of the median income for the area where they live.  Qualified residents typically pay no more than 30% of their adjusted income for rent.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development administers subsidized housing for older adults through local housing authorities or local housing development/management agencies.
