Nursing Homes

If your loved one can no longer be cared for at home, but doesn't need to be in a hospital, a nursing home may be an appropriate option. Most nursing homes - also known as skilled nursing facilities, long-term care facilities, or custodial care - have services and staff to address issues such as nutrition, care planning, recreation, spirituality, and medical care.

Care from registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), or nursing aides is available 24 hours a day.  Nursing homes are usually licensed by the state and regulated by the federal government.
