ADVERTISING POLICY

Last updated: November 12th 2007

All advertisers and creative are subject to AGIS approval and must meet the defined specs, Creative Guidelines, and Advertising Policy.
AGIS reserves the right to refuse any advertiser, creative assets, or URLs.
The purpose of this policy is to explain the types of advertising that we will and will not accept on our site, as well as the ways we distinguish advertising from independent editorial content. The advertising you see on our site has no influence on the quality, accuracy or selection of editorial content and services that we provide to you.

See details of the policy below:

OVERVIEW

  • When we speak of “advertising” or “advertisements,” we mean all forms of advertising, sponsorships and promotions for which we receive compensation.
  • We do not endorse any products, services or companies.
  • Advertising or advertisers do not influence the editorial content on our site.
  • AGIS clearly identifies all advertising.

ADVERTISING LABELS

We’ve established guidelines on how we label advertising so that you’ll know what is an advertisement and what is editorial content. Below are the different types of advertising labels:

  • "ADVERTISEMENT" is used to label the standard advertising units on our site. The content of this type of advertising is controlled by the advertiser. Ads are labeled with the word "ADVERTISEMENT" along the bottom of the advertisement. We have no control over the advertiser’s website or the policies on that site.
  • "Sponsored by", "Brought to you by" or "This content is brought to you by our sponsor" is used to label content when an advertiser has paid for association with an article or category of content within AGIS, but the content is NOT editorially controlled or influenced by the advertiser. We identify this kind of advertising by clearly showing that the content or service is "Sponsored by" the advertiser.
  • Entire content pages funded and provided by advertisers can be identified by the following label located at the top of each page "Content on this page is created, influenced or produced by [Advertiser's Name], and is under [Advertiser's Name] sole editorial control."
  • Within AGIS editorial pages, content funded and provided by advertisers is labeled so that you can distinguish it from editorially independent content. You can recognize advertorial content on our site by the "Provided by" label and the name of the advertiser. The "Provided by [Advertiser Name]" will be located directly above or below the advertiser content.
  • Advertisers do not influence what is displayed in our organic search results or the order in which we present them on our site. Search results that are in response to search queries or keywords entered in search boxes on our site are editorially or algorithmically programmed by AGIS and its search vendors. Any paid advertising listings posted on search results pages of our site will be identified as "Advertisement" and will be clearly delineated from the organic search results.

ADVERTISING NOT ACCEPTED

To help ensure that the advertising on our site is consistent with best practices AGIS has adopted certain limitations on the types of advertising that we accept.

The following advertising categories are NOT accepted on AGIS:

  • Advertising which contains illegal or dubious activities/products including gambling.
  • Advertising which promotes products or services that might be deemed physically harmful. The restrictions include such items as alcohol, tobacco, firearms, or any related goods.
