Learning Demo - The Brain

LightBridge

This demonstration provides the participant an interactive, three demonstrational view of the brain. The dissectible brain allows you to easily click and drag the mouse of your computer to uncover the various sections of the brain to increase your understanding of how the brain is affected by Alzheimer's disease. The major sections of the brain are identified in this fun learning experience. The temporal lobe is the region at the lower side of each cerebral hemisphere that contains centers of hearing and memory for words. The frontal lobes are located at the top, front regions of each of the cerebral hemispheres. They are used for reasoning, emotions, judgment, impulse control and voluntary movement. The occipital lobes of the cerebrum are the regions of the brain located behind each cerebral hemisphere at the back of the head which contain the centers of vision, recognition, and reading ability located. The parietal lobes of the cerebrum are the middle lobes of each cerebral hemisphere between the frontal and occipital lobes. This final section of the brain is where sensations are received including the sense of where one is in space, where reading and writing is initiated, and where automatic motor actions are planned.
