Retirement Communities

Retirement community is a broad term that covers many varieties of housing for retirees and older adults. Unlike a retirement home, which is typically a single building or small complex with no common areas, a retirement community is often planned for socializing. Some also have on-site medical facilities.

You should look for a community to meet the specific needs of your loved one. Some communities consist only of residential units. Others offer a combination of residential and health care units, while yet others have only long-term health care units that offer assisted living or nursing care.
